The look
June 10, 2009
Everything here is brand new, with a modern ambience that the former location lacked. The main room is illuminated by color-changing lights set into the ceiling, and a row of contemporary glass Asian-style lights hang above the bar.
Putting everything together was a real D.I.Y. effort, Yoshida said. The staff put in a lot of work on getting the new location ready, from painting the walls to hanging the lights in order to keep costs down.
The furniture is a mix of couches with low tables and high tables with chairs throughout the room. The couch nooks are reservable, and are good for a larger party of friends to hang out, eat and drink. The tables reflect the effort to keep costs down. They seat four to six, but the minimalistic chairs aren't exactly comfortable for a long stay.
While Tsunami is more of a lounge than a dancing space, the tables in the center of the room can be cleared away for more space if necessary.
