If you're hankering for a good margarita on Cinco de Mayo, we've picked five places for you to try both classic and specialty versions on the biggest margarita day of the year.
What absolutely affects the quality of a margarita is the quality of the tequila, said Ryan Gallagher, a bartender at Jimmy Buffett's at the Beachcomber, a place known for its margaritas.
"You drink a margarita for the tequila flavor," he said. "Usually, you go for the golds (gold tequila is a blend of aged and un-aged tequila), which have more flavor. Silver tequilas are smoother. But if you like tequila, order the golds."
Frozen or on the rocks? "People who drink more often like it on the rocks, while people less likely to drink hard liquor will order it frozen," Gallagher said.
