The annual Hawaii Underground Music Awards, a sort of Grammy Awards for local rock, ska, punk, metal, hip-hop, indie and acoustic artists, was held at Doris Duke Theatre at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, with Otto, member of the 86 List and cheesecake maker extraordinaire, as emcee. The red carpet event brought out fans of the local music scene, entertainers and music industry folks.
And the winners were:

Best Rock/Metal Band: Stillborn Skies
Best Indie Rock Band: Busekrus
Best Ska Band: Black Square
Best Punk Band: 86 List
Best Hip-hop/R & B Band: The Deadbeats
Best Solo/Acoustic Artist: Josh 86 and Megum Pie
Best New Band: My Sleep Therapy
Best Song: "We Go Skankin'" by Black Square
Lifetime Music Award: Jason Miller from 808Shows
