Metromix today introduces its newest blog, Fresh from the grill, which tracks the adventures of seven members of the local Twitterati, known around town as Grilled Cornbread.

The bloggers — L.P. “Neenz” Faleafine, Edward Morita, Kaeo Kepani, Noe Mendiola, Zen Lao and the Two Beer Queers (Bully O’Sullivan and Russel Kealoha) — all met online via Twitter and Facebook, but bonded during a nonvirtual meet-up earlier this year.

“The Honolulu Advertiser hosted this meeting for geeks, then afterward, we all went across the street to TJ’s for beers,” Neenz said. “We just clicked.”

The group, now part of a digital media company called Grilled Cornbread, plans to update their Metromix blog daily, by taking turns writing entries.

“We all have a day that works for us,” Neenz said.

Expect humor, YouTube videos, lots of photos documenting the group’s all-hours exploits and, of course, Twitter to explode with tweets and retweets about their outings. (Collectively, they have 17,000 Twitter followers, so if you’re on Twitter, chances are you’ll be looped in.)

The name, Fresh from the grill, suggests a food-oriented blog, and, yes, eating is a passion for all of them.

But this sevensome have lots of other interests; they’re all about town, for lack of a better term. And they’re literally from all over town — Kaimuki to Kaneohe to Kapolei.

The blog basically will be a multimedia showcase of how a group of 20- and 30-something friends with unique and diverse interests have fun in Honolulu.

Zen, for instance, is a hard-core gamer who connected a real drum set to his Xbox, while Ed — a regular food writer for Metromix — spends his free time flying stunt kites at Sandy Beach.

The Two Beer Queers may be best known for their hilarious online beer reviews, which have garnered a cult-like following. But Bully is also a soccer coach who plays in an adult soccer league, while Russel loves movies and typically is among the masses waiting in line to see midnight screenings.

Along with being the go-to digital whiz of the group (shooting video, Web programming), Kaeo is the resident concert-goer, while Noe is a crafting fiend. Neenz is the Twitter guru, with more than 9,500 followers.

We’re not exactly sure what to expect from Fresh from the grill, but we’re confident it’ll be an entertaining, social-networking adventure.

“We all found a niche, based on our personalities,” Neenz said. “And we’re down for trying anything.”
