New York Fashion Week: Herve Leger reimagines bodycon
Posted February 10, 2013
Max Azria's Herve Leger line is known for its proliferation of body-conscious dresses, but on Saturday, the designer put a new spin on his aesthetic that was a welcome change from his ubiquitous bandage dress.
Instead of showing a collection that was just variation on a riff on the same bandage dress theme, Azria opted for a smarter, edgier line. The Herve Leger dresses featured intricate beading and modern patterns in black, white, chartreuse and smoke.
The looks, while sexy, were all topped with oversized baseball caps that lent a youthful vibe to the glam, skintight dresses. Mixed in with Azria's new outlook on bodycon were large fur coats with HUGE hoods that obscured most of the models' faces.
The Leger aesthetic also featured harnesses with large panels that were reminiscent of an insect's exoskeleton. In a sexy way -- promise.
The updated Herve Leger look featured slashes of skin, too, in the form of perfectly cropped tops that were paired with matching patterned pants. We could definitely see celebs like Rihanna and Miley Cyrus pulling off the racy looks.
