Stars let loose at the Spirit Awards

The Independent Spirit Awards, held in a beach-adjacent tent in Santa Monica the day before the Oscars, is always a boozy, lighthearted affair, and this year was no exception, especially with Andy Samberg at the helm. “I prepared by watching past hosts, learning from their great triumphs," Samberg said on the red carpet. Equipped with jokes about everything from Jeremy Renner to Oscar Pistorius, he began by addressing the crowd grandly: "Welcome to the only award show watched by more people in person than on TV," he cracked on stage.
