LIKE THE TITLE SAYS: a new boulangerie opened yesterday in Manoa Marketplace. I won't go into great detail about it right now, because I'll do that in a future issue of TGIF, but here's the quick and dirty of the place for the sake of info dissemination:

What's a boulangerie? Sounds stuck up: It just means a "French-style bakery." It sounds more high maka than it is. Really.

Who's behind it? The place is owned by Niel Koep, the former patisserie chef for the Four Seasons on Lanai.

How's the food? The pastries are sweet, delicate and flaky when they should be, dense and rich when they should be. The pizza is delicious — Chef Koep has created a signature crust that's both thick and thin. Yeah, he's a genius. The bread is hearty and rustic and fresh. So, how's the food? Fabulous.
