The ARTS at Marks Garage is best thought of as a mosaic. Located, yes it’s true, beneath a garage in the heart of Honolulu’s art scene, the space is part gallery, part performance area and part office. But while the space might be somewhat fractured, its mission is clear. It features and cultivates local art and artists through exhibitions, poetry slams, installations, monologues, the occasional play, and open mics. It’s a varied scene that draws all types from bohos to buttoned-down sorts, and that eclecticism is all part of the fun. ARTS at Marks is especially hopping on First Fridays and Third Thursdays – but be sure to check the website for the full lineup every month.
