Get funky at TCM
From postcards to canvas bags, baby onesies and salt shakers, Gruntled Funk has established a presence at the Contemporary Museum — and it could take over your home. Local artist Ryan Higa (above), who set up camp late last month at The Contemporary Museum to paint a mural of his brainchildren, also held a coming-out party at the museum for his new line of artsy creatures on bags, T-shirts, baby onesies and other useful objects. The out-of-this-world characters include wide-eyed pink monsters, tall fuzzy thingies with blazing unicorn horns and flying capes, and grazing sheep, in a world where anything can happen and stories are told. Want to rock some of his gear? Pick it up at The Contemporary Museum Gift Shop, 2411 Makiki Heights Drive; 526-0232, www.tcmhi.org, www.gruntledfunk.com.
