Chinatown New Year Celebration 2009

Every year, in the few weeks leading up to Chinese New Year, Chinatown comes alive with food, cultural activities, colorful parades and more in a block party atmosphere. This past weekend, thousands of people descended upon the free festivities to celebrate the Year of the Ox and enjoy the special food — some of which is only made during this period.
If you have never taken part in the Chinese New Year activities in Honolulu, here’s a quick glimpse at some of the scenes from the weekend.
