i agree with MissyE. somethings not right here. chicks gotta come back down to earth and thank her record label for throwing money at her. its not fair, artists gotta EARN sucess, not have it BOUGHT for them.

She has earned any success that she has gotten, and FYI the reason that her record was ranked at #7 was because it was so cheap. only $5.99 for a 12 song album. She is so down to earth that she isn't worried about the money at all, she is willing to go bare minimum just so that she can continue to pursue her dream and keep on doing what she loves to do, all her cockiness and "ego" isn't any of those things. Growing up in a Hawaiian household her CONFIDENCE is getting you confused. So check yourself.

I don't know what you think your talking about MissyE. I can guarantee you that no label or anybody is giving Anuhea any money for what she is doing. I know Anuhea closer then you could imagine and she is doing everything herself and with friends help. I have even taken the liberty of helping her out with designing posters and t-shirts for her and her fans. All the support she is getting is from friends and family. No record label or "chart manipulators" are doing anything to give her undeserving success.

Point taken Stacey... 1st. Check out 'how' the World billboard charts determine chart positions, it's not all that you might think. 2nd. Throw close to $250,000 of investment to any singer songwriter in Hawaii and they will get they same attention/success. Good looking or not. 3rd. To get the 'free download' spot on iTunes you need someone on the inside with iTunes, and it's not cheap. Talent in the music industry has no charts. I am proud of her, but she needs to get her ego checked, without all the money/press/industry behind her she'd still be drawing 15 people per show. Don't confuse, press and success with talent in the music industry. As an aside, Ekolu topped the World Charts on Billboard too, they didn't have the same financial machine as Anu and nobody knew about it. It's very strange to have 6000 Myspace friends and 300,000 plays. That's an average of 500 views per fan. Do the math, it's a bot giving those hits on Myspace. ALL HYPE.

MissyE you are a hater. Anuhea is a hardworking woman, and if you are indeed from Maui you would know that she's been hustling and working at this for a long time and deserves every second of her success. Anuhea did indeed peak at #7 on the iTunes Pop charts, and those charts change on a daily basis. If Honolulu Advertiser chose to feature the chart at that peak position, so be it. There is no issue with that. If you think iTunes is manipulated, why don't you go check the Billboard charts and see where Anuhea peaked. Legit. And to correct you yet AGAIN she does have radio play in many other states around the county from Buffalo New York to San Francisco. It baffles me that a person from Maui would be so unsupportive of someone doing big things from grassroots beginnings. As a friend and supporter of Anuhea, I stand proudly with her and will be there to rejoice in all the amazing success that is to come! Go Anuhea!!!!!!

Too bad she's not currently on the iTunes chart anymore. You want a real story, you should look into how easy it is to manipulate chart positions of iTunes. See google for how to do this. I wish her success, but she really needs to check her ego. She's definitely good at viral marketing, but there is clearly some manipulation going on here when she was charting between Jason Mraz and Katy Perry. Geeeez!!!! She doesn't even have a music video and no radio play other than Hawaii. That is not possible without serious chart manipulation. It takes only around $10,000 to do this, they clearly have that. This is all a scam to make her appear more successful to get more investors I was at the Mint show in Los Angeles, it was OK. Hardly a massive turn-out as her and record company are claiming on the YouTube vids. Just goes to show there are many ways to make it. She and her company are taking the "all hype and no substance" route.
