Aloha Tower Marketplace may be mostly a tourist spot, but it does afford residents opportunities to indulge their multiple personalities. For your inner vacationer, there are numerous shops to peruse. For the late-night-gourmand/pub-crawler in you, there are lots of bars and restaurants to eat, drink and mingle. There are also lots of big splashy events, like the annual Cinco de Mayo Party and the Pre-Independence Day Celebration, where huge crowds come to watch fireworks over Honolulu Harbor. There are regular ukulele contests, fashion shows, and for that deeply repressed lover of kitsch, show up for “Boat Days,” when you can plaster on your shiniest Aloha-spreading-grin and greet arriving cruise ship passengers.
