Hamburger bento

How can you tell a bento’s Japanese? Cold spaghetti and a tablespoon of creamy potato salad, of course (seems in Japan, they use ice cream scoops for ice cream). The best-seller among Iga’s line of $6.90 bentos is this one featuring a Japanese-style patty, which, to be honest, we like better than local-style. The beef is lean, minced fine, shaped dense, and coated with that hamburger sauce that Japanese love — perky, ketchupy and slightly sweet. And the rice? Trust us, the Japanese know their rice.
What else is there: Broiled salmon is Iga’s #2 bento; there are more than a dozen choices, and they’ve just added udon
Cost: $6.90
