Chow kway teo

I fell in love with Malaysian char kway teow on the streets of Penang, not realizing I’d been drooling over a local Hong Kong-style version for years. 369’s dish is its own entity — chow fun rice noodles and wheat mein noodles wok-sauteed with egg, shrimp, bean sprouts and green onions, all flavored with shoyu and however much chili you can take. It’s a milder, subtler version of its cousin: where Penang’s is vibrant, 369’s is comfort food.
