Fresh sugarcane juice

Did we ever do this in Hawaii? Hack off a length of sugarcane stalk, run it through a mean press to extract the raw juice, filter it through a sieve and pour over ice? We should have. This is as pure as a beverage gets — and while it’s sweet, naturally, there’s a hint of citrusy tang.
