Deep Fried Ahi with shiso leaf and Mozzarella Cheese
It's ahi mixed with mozzarella cheese, wrapped with shiso leaf, then breaded with panko and deep fried. It’s sliced into bite-sized pieces and served with katsu sauce. To make it “healthy,” the plate does come with greens on the side.
Melissa: "I loved the delicate crunch and am a big fan of shiso. If anything, I’d ask for more shiso, but it’s great as is. The hint of mozzarella probably tames the ahi taste, so overall, the filling isn’t that strong."
Shayna: "I normally don’t like shiso much, but this is okay. And the ahi taste is not too strong — it’s more creamy."
Jan: "Tastes like ahi katsu… nothing out of the ordinary. But I would order it again because it does taste good."
Ed: "Not sure if I got mozzarella… But I like the crunchy texture with the creamy inside. The shiso pulls it all together. It’s great bar food."
Cost: $7.80
Group verdict: Yum!
