Opened in 1956, this is one of a dying breed - the mom-and-pop saimin stand, where the broth is homemade and you can order barbecue sticks and shrimp tempura on the side. You can also get donburi, cold soba salad, burgers and breakfast, among many other things. Even after all these years, the place still gets packed on the weekend. When locals want their comfort food, they head to the old standbys, even if they have to wait.
