  • This comfy Kakaako eatery is part of dying breed of old-school diners that serve up quick, inexpensive local plate lunches. Come as early as 5:30 a.m. for eggs, pancakes or sweetbread French toast. For lunch, try one of the daily specials like "Mama's Meatloaf," baked garlic chicken, shoyu pork and even roast turkey with stuffing. With World War II metal landing strips on the ceiling, Cooke Street Diner is definitely a throwback to a long-gone generation.
